Painting and Photography

I have always been surrounded by painting and art. My mother went to an arts college, Bennington College, in the 1940’s, studying literature and art. She became a teacher and a sculptor. One’s work is always influenced by their surroundings. As life goes, my photography has been influenced by painting. When I photograph, I don’t consciously think of my influences and sometimes after I capture a photograph, I recognize where some of my inspiration might have come from. This group of paintings and photographs pays homage to the art that has been part of my surroundings.
